Information only

All content on yardtactic.com is published for general informational and educational purposes only. It is not professional advice. Nothing here should be treated as veterinary, legal, medical, agricultural or licensed pest control advice, and no reader relationship of any professional kind is created by your use of this site.

02

Our content is research based, not test based

This is the most important thing on this page, so we will state it plainly. Yard Tactic does not perform hands on field testing, laboratory testing, side by side product trials or long term durability testing. We have not installed the fences we write about or run the traps we describe. We do not claim otherwise anywhere on this site.

Our guides, comparisons and recommendations are assembled from three sources: manufacturer specifications, published documentation including product manuals, safety data sheets, registered label text and guidance from university extension services and state wildlife agencies, and verified owner reports read in volume across different climates and property types.

Where we state a preference, it is a research based assessment of how a product’s published specifications match a stated job, not a report of personal use. Where a specification is not published, we say it is not specified rather than estimating it. Any score, rating or ranking on this site reflects that same research based method and nothing more.

03

Accuracy and currency

We work carefully, but we cannot guarantee that everything on this site is complete, current or free of error. Manufacturers revise products, change specifications, relabel formulations and discontinue lines without notice. Prices and availability change constantly. Extension service guidance is updated as new research is published.

Before you buy or apply anything, confirm the current specification and the current label with the manufacturer or the retailer. If you find a figure here that no longer matches the manufacturer’s documentation, please tell us at hello@yardtactic.com so we can correct it.

04

Results vary, and sometimes they vary a lot

Yard pest and predator control is not a controlled environment. Outcomes depend on the species and its local population density, how hungry the animals are, soil type and moisture, snow cover, slope, prevailing weather, the layout and size of your property, what your neighbours are or are not doing, and how carefully the product was installed or applied.

A fence height that reliably holds deer in one county may be marginal in another where pressure is higher or snow raises the effective ground level. A repellent that lasts six weeks in a dry season may need reapplying after a fortnight in a wet one. Nothing on this site is a guarantee of a particular result on your property.

05

Safety, wildlife and the law

  • Follow the label. Pesticides, repellents and treated products carry legally binding label instructions covering application rate, protective equipment, re entry intervals and where they may not be used. Read the label and follow it. Where the label conflicts with anything on this site, the label wins.
  • Check the law before you trap or relocate. Rules on trapping, relocating and handling wildlife vary by country, state, province and county, and some species are protected. Verify current local regulations with your wildlife agency before setting anything.
  • Protect people, pets, livestock and pollinators. Products safe for one household may not suit yours. Consider children, pets, chickens, edible crops, water features and beneficial insects before applying anything.
  • Install safely. Fencing, netting and electric systems involve tools, tension, buried utilities and sometimes electricity. Call your utility locating service before digging post holes, and bring in a professional where a job is beyond your experience.
